Councilmember elect Gray: “Saturday, we take the first step…”

(New Orleans)   On Saturday, December 22, 2012, Councilmember-elect James Gray will kick-off the District E Fight Against Blight with the first of several clean-up projects scheduled for the district.  Participants in this inaugural project will clear brush and pick up trash on two adjacent lots in the 2400 block of Andry St., and clear debris blocking N. Dorgenois St. next to the corner lot. Volunteers who want to help with the clean-up are asked to assemble at Oliver Bush Park on Caffin Avenue and N. Dorgenois St. at 9:00 a.m. for orientation. The group will then walk the two blocks to the work site.

“District E residents deserve to live in a clean and safe environment,” said James Gray, Councilmember elect for District E. “During my campaign for office, church leaders, community groups and countless residents said eradicating blight was a top priority. I promised to help. Saturday, we take the first step,” he said.
